@Disneyland where your kids make you do things you know you don’t want to, Just because it makes them smile.

I had an interesting conversation with my oldest daughter today as we got ready
to go to school and work. She was telling me of her love for Ariel’s Grotto at
Disneyland. A place I have long since written off due to the change in style of
food they offer.

When we first started to go there on our yearly trips the food was great. All ages
enjoyed it and they even made mac and cheese with a hot dog cut up to look like
an octopus. My kids loved the Character interaction and the food. We choose to
do the Character meals for the instant no wait access to characters for their
autograph books and our photo album. The food has always been the added bonus.

I personally can’t understand why Disney would change Ariel’s Grotto from that style of food to a pretentious menu that honestly doesn’t fit with girls between 1 month and
12 years old. Again this is my opinion and the reason we stopped eating here on
our yearly trips.

As of this morning that has changed because of the look in her eye and the words
that followed.

Her: Dad I can’t wait for Disneyland this year. Eating at Ariel’s grotto will be so
much fun.

Me: Hon, we don’t normally eat there.

Her: Oh, I just love talking with all the princess and taking pictures with them and
Ariel.

Me: What about the food?

Her: Oh dad we can always figure something out that we will all like to eat there.

Me: Really?

Her: It’s ok if we don’t, I just like the pictures with the Princess’

Me: But you didn’t smile or get excited last year with any of the Characters

Her: I was just shy so I acted like I didn’t care so I wasn’t embarrassed.

Me: You know you are 5 right? And even I act silly and goofy at Disneyland.

Her: I know. I will this year I am so excited.

Me: Ok then, If you want to we will

Her: (Huge Smile) Great Dad.

I am such a softy. but for my girls there isn’t anything I won’t do. And I have said
this is our never say NO vacation. So in that it has already begun.

The Disneyland Fast Pass that will never die regarless of what she has said…

Back story: We got fast pass tickets for a ride that was broken down at Disneyland and they went missing. We headed over to and went on Splash Mountain. I got supper wet. As I was cleaning out my pockets to protect anything from further damage I discovered the missing fast passes for the broken down ride.

From that momen forward I have been known by my lovely wife as Fast Pass. More so for my horrible memory.  When it comes to things like that. During that same trip to the land of the mouse my lovely wife forgot many things or misplaced them only to find them in her purse much later and each time say ok we are even you are no longer Fast Pass.

To this day I am still Fast Pass. So not fair. Not much that can be done to break her of the need to show me I was wrong one time, I can understand it is hard to live with somebody that is almost always right except when mistaken. lol

Oh Pickles I love you.
